Intelligent Email Settings

Setting up email tags for routes and channels

Intelligent email is a feature to enable users to add tags to their emails to auto-tag their Messages with Channels/Categories and Routes once they land in the TransitChat platform. Intelligent Email is configurable in the platform. During the onboarding process, your Account Manager will walk through getting tagging configured for you, but you can also configure these yourself as you add new Channels/Categories and Routes to your instance.

Configuration is split between Routes and Channels. Let’s start with Channels by clicking on the toggle:

Configuring Intelligent Email for Channels:

In order to ensure that the right Channel/Category is picked up in email by the system, we’ve provided a means to ensure that any variation you might anticipate with your users gets captured and tagged appropriately. For example, for the @Scheduling tag, you may want to enable users to use @Schedule or @Schd. Configuring this is easy:

  1. Locate the Channel you’d like to modify in the list of available channels. Remember, you can always add custom channels:
  2. In the dialog box below the Channel you’d like to add additional tagging to, enter the additional Intelligent Tags you’d like the system to pick up in emails and click “Add”. Best practice is to use numbers and letters only in the tagging, avoid using special characters (i.e. #$%^&*):
  3. You will now see the list of Intelligent tags has expanded to include these new variations. These new variations are now live and will pick up on any new mail sent to the platform
  4. To delete any tags, simply click on the trash icon next to the tag name

Configuring Intelligent Email for Routes:

Configuring Intelligent Email to pick up routes is done in the same manner as Channels. Any variations of the Route Long Name, which is picked up by the GTFS feed, you’d like to add is full configurable. For instance, let’s say you want to add variations to the !12th Street Intelligent Tag such as !12th or !12thst

  1. Locate the Route you’d like to modify in the list of available Routes; note that these are in ascending alphabetical order:
  2. In the dialog box below the Route you’d like to add additional tagging to, enter the additional Intelligent Tags you’d like the system to pick up in emails and click “Add". Best practice is to use numbers and letters only in the tagging, avoid using special characters (i.e. #$%^&*):

  3. You will now see the list of Intelligent tags has expanded to include these new variations. These new variations are now live and will pick up on any new mail sent to the platform
  4. To delete any tags, simply click on the trashicon next to the tag name
